Mrs. Katheryn Geneva Tallent Barton, 90, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Morningside Assisted Living Facility.
Mrs. Barton was born in Lyerly, Georgia on December 3, 1927. She was a daughter of the late William Taylor and Mary Elvar Brooks Tallent. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Walton W. Barton, who passed away in 1996; sisters, Nell Weems, Hazel Martin, Leola Smith, Ruby Holbrooks, Ann Crawford, Kattie Baggett, and her twin sister, Kathleen Davenport; her bothers, W.G. Tallent and Grady Tallent;
She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Dalton.
Mrs. Barton is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Walter W. Jr. & Patricia Barton of Dalton, Wayne Leon Barton of Waco, Texas, and Steve & Renee Barton of Dalton; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; also her special puppy, Prissy.
A service to celebrate the life of Katheryn Barton will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Darey Kittle officiating.
Mrs. Barton will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Green Hills Memory Gardens in Pennville, Gerogia.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M.
