Mrs. Katherine Christine "Sue" Giles, age 85 of Marietta, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday July 27, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Sue was born February 8, 1931 in Knoxville, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Otis Preston and Ruby Medlin Stanton. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Bruner and her brothers, Eugene, Ralph and Paul Stanton.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was faithful all of her life. She was a lifelong member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. Sue along with her husband, Reverend Jack Giles served several churches during their ministry and was a true pastor's wife. She was a mother not only to her children, but to all of her church family as well.
She is survived by the love of her life, Reverend Jack Giles, and celebrated their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary, March 28, 2016; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon K. and Vernon Bond of Dalton, GA, Glenda R. Pratt of Marietta, GA, Rhonda J. and Fred Cassell, Jr. of Kennesaw, GA, Marlene and Franklin Jones of Dallas, GA, and Sheena and Robi Wingrove of Ringgold, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Lamar Gazaway of Dalton, GA; twenty three grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Katherine Christine "Sue" Giles will be held Saturday morning, July 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly with Reverend Charlie T. Pratt and Reverend Charlie Bell officiating. Music will be provided by Mavis Hughes, Michael Redwine and New Creation. She will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery with her grandsons, Les Wells, Jay Smithson, Jay McCarter, Ty Eaton, Mark Biester and Eric Biester serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Josh Eaton, Dusty Biester and Evan Wingrove.
The family will receive friends at The Church of God of The Union Assembly, 2211 South Dixie Hwy., Dalton, GA, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2016 and also after 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning, July 30, 2016 until the service hour.
