Mr. J.W. Vick, age 82, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening, September 18, 2026, at a local hospital in Dalton.

J.W. was born October 29, 1943, in Gilmer County, Georgia, a son of the late J.C. and Gladys Ponder Vick. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sandra Green; brother, J.R. Vick; and sisters, Lilly Anne and Sam Baker, Betty Ann Pierce, and Bonnie Lee Vick.

J.W. was a sweet, kind, and loving man who will be remembered most for the love he had for his family. He was a devoted Daddy, a wonderful Papaw, and a caring friend to many. His gentle heart, kindness, and willingness to love and care for others made him a special person to everyone who knew him. His family was the center of his life, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and treasured every moment he spent with them.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Charles Davis; grandchildren, Katelyn, Logan, Samantha, and Savannah; brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Caroline Vick; sister, Dianne Elrod and Tommy Elrod; aunt, Marlee Lumpkin; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also like a Papaw to Johnathan and Cynthia, whom he loved dearly.

J.W.'s loving spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his love, kindness, and the memories he gave his family will live on in their hearts forever.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. J.W. Vick will be held Tuesday morning, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Gilmer County, Georgia.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning until the service hour.
