Mr. J.W. "Jay" Roberts, age 77, of Dalton GA, departed this life Wednesday July 19, 2017 at the local hospital. Jay was born March 9, 1940 in Langdale, Alabama, son of the late James Watson Roberts and Vermell Carmack Roberts. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Myra Darlene Green, grandson, Steven Kyle Roberts. He retired from Shaw Industries after 32 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maxine Patterson Roberts of the residence; son, Lamar Roberts; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sylvia and David Johnson, Trisha and Herman Hackney; brothers and sister-in-law, Denny and Lisa Roberts, Melvin Roberts; grandchildren, Tiffani Roberts, Cody Robert all of Dalton, GA; aunt, Eunice Carmack of Marietta, GA; brother-in-law, Larry Greene of Dalton, GA; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. J. W. "Jay" Roberts will be held Saturday July 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Jim Brinkley and Reverend Tommy Deal officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
