Mrs. Julia Diane Burgess, age 67, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday evening, June 29, 2018 at her home.  Julia was born December 7, 1950 in Catoosa County, Georgia, a daughter of the late John Theo and Ella Louise Smith Bunch.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerry Cook, daughters, Tammie Hudson and Laura Rodriguez, a brother, Jerry Bunch and brothers-in-law, Robert Sneed, Bill Hawkins and Richard Payne.

Julia was a member of the New Beginning Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of thirty eight years, Arnold Ray "Pete" Burgess of the residence; sons, Lamar Cook of Chatsworth, GA, Tony Cook of Rocky Face, GA, and Terry Burgess of Harriman, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Grady Stokes of Rocky Face, GA, Sharon Burgess of Dalton, GA, Lisa and Mike Hogsed of Rocky Face, GA, brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Bunch of Rossville, GA, Paul and Jeanie Bunch and Johnny Bunch all of Rocky Face, GA; sisters, Martha Sneed of Tunnel Hill, GA, Stella Hawkins, Charlotte Gravitt and Donna Payne all of Rocky Face, GA; eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Julia Diane Burgess will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Junior Williams officiating. She will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Brandon Stokes, Lamar Cook, Brian Cook, Keith Stokes, Grady Stokes, Dillion Davenport, Terry Burgess and Tony Cook serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
