Mr. Joshua L. "Jay" McCarty, age 91, of Dalton, Georgia, wenthome to be with the Lord on Friday evening, August 5, 2022 at the Hamilton Medical Center. Jay was born March 16, 1931 in Rolfe, Iowa, and raised in Corbin, Kentucky. He also lived for a time with his grandparents Jahue and Nancy Ausmus of Murray County, GA. He worked in the carpet industry as a machinist, retiring from Proffitt Textile. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and riding his mower. He loved his family and he will be missed very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Conley D. and Emma Ausmus McCarty, first wife, Mary Ruth Talley McCarty, daughter, Emma Kaye McCarty, siblings, Beatrice Edwins, Elwood McCarty, Lloyd McCarty, Fern Harp, Georgia Kerr, stepdaughter, Andrea Knight.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gwilda Gribble; daughter, Rita and Mike Parker; sisters, Athleen Harper, Jean Pack; grandchildren, Josh and Jennifer Parker, Lisa and Anthony Massotti; great grandchildren, Brantley, Braden, Beau and Bennett Parker, Anabella and Olivia Massotti; many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his stepson, Mike and Kim Gribble; step grandchildren, Ethan and Savanna Knight, Chris and Stephanie Gribble, Andrew and Abigail Gribble.

Graveside service to celebrate the life of Mr. Joshua L. "Jay" McCarty will be held Tuesday August 9, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. from the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Joshua Parker, Joshua Horton, Anthony Massotti, Ethan Knight, Brantley Parker and Chris Gribble will serve as pallbearers.
