Mrs. Josephine "Yuppie" Shavin, age 88, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away, Friday September 21, 2018 at a local hospital. Yuppie was the daughter of the late Solomon Sir and Esther Michner Sir. Yuppie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Harold Shavin; brother, Harry Sear and nephew, Jay Susman. Yuppie was very involved in helping Harold in their retail business being successful. In addition to helping Harold, she was a mother of three children and attended to their every need. She loved to cook and bake in her kosher home. Yuppie was very involved in B'Nai Zion Synagogue, the Sister Hood and Hadassah.

Mrs. Josephine "Yuppie" Shavin is survived by her children, Alan Shavin ( Lisa Tarsitano) of Tempe, AZ, Rita (Bob) Brook of Chattanooga, TN, Gayle Shavin-Taliaferro (Allen Taliaferro) of Chattanooga, TN; sister Dorothy Kaset of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Erik (Jennifer) Brook, Sarah Brook, Sam Johnson, Stefani Johnson; great-granddaughter, Maya Brook; niece, Mary Susman and her children, Andy (Rebekah) Susman and Beth (Johnny) Walling. Yuppie is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from B'nai Zion Cemetery, with Rabbi Susan Tendler officiating.
