Mr. Jose Carlos Prieto, age 34, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, at Emory Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Carlos was born on March 18, 1991, in Weslaco, Texas. A 2009 graduate of Dalton High School, he later attended Dalton State College. He was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church.

Carlos was a devoted father whose greatest joy in life was his beloved daughter, Penelope Marie Prieto. His face lit up whenever he spoke of her, and his love for her was boundless and pure. He cherished the time they shared and held her close to his heart always.

Carlos also held deep love and respect for his mother and father, Sara Hernandez Prieto and Juan Luis Prieto, Sr, whose strength and kindness shaped his life. Family was at the center of everything he did—his parents, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins were his constant companions and greatest blessings. His laughter, generosity, and gentle spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Penelope Marie Prieto and Rahlyn Green and  their mother, Veronica Blackstock Prieto; parents, Juan Luis Prieto, Sr. and Sara Hernandez Prieto; grandmother, Flaviana Rodríguez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Juan Luis Prieto, Jr., Victor Manuel and Ruth Prieto, Luis Alberto and Melody Prieto, all of Dalton, GA, and Hector Ivan Prieto of Dallas, TX; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Prieto, Anisa Prieto, Luis Prieto, Jr., Manuel Angel Prieto, Maria Natalia Prieto, Victor Jesus Prieto, Abram Mateo Prieto, and Sarah Rosa Prieto; and cousins, Lilly Gonzales and Luis Morales, both of Houston, TX.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jose Carlos Prieto will be held Saturday morning, November 1, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Father Juan Jose Teran officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, with his family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, with Rosary being held at 7:00 p.m.

El Sr. José Carlos Prieto, de 34 años, de Dalton, Georgia, partió de esta vida el martes 28 de octubre de 2025 por la noche en el Centro Médico Emory en Atlanta, Georgia.

Carlos nació el 18 de marzo de 1991 en Weslaco, Texas. Graduado en 2009 de Dalton High School, más tarde asistió a Dalton State College. Era miembro de la Iglesia Católica de San José.

Carlos fue un padre devoto cuya mayor alegría en la vida fue su amada hija, Penélope Marie Prieto. Su rostro se iluminaba cada vez que hablaba de ella, y su amor por ella era ilimitado y puro. Apreciaba el tiempo que compartían y la mantenía siempre cerca de su corazón.

Carlos también tenía un profundo amor y respeto por su madre y su padre, Sara Hernández Prieto y Juan Luis Prieto, Sr., cuya fuerza y bondad dieron forma a su vida. La familia estaba en el centro de todo lo que hacía: sus padres, hermanos, sobrinas, sobrinos y primos eran sus compañeros constantes y sus mayores bendiciones. Los servicios para celebrar la vida del Sr. José Carlos Prieto se llevarán a cabo el sábado 1 de noviembre de 2025 por la mañana a las 10:00 a.m. en la Capilla Ponders Melrose con el Padre Juan José Terán oficiando. Será enterrado en el cementerio y mausoleo de Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park, con su familia como portadores del féretro.

La familia recibirá a sus amigos en la Capilla Ponders Melrose de 5:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m. el viernes, y el Rosario se llevará a cabo a las 7:00 p.m.
