Mr. Johnny Alvin Cloer, age 64, of Chatsworth, GA, crossed the finish line and received his final checkered flag, Monday November 23, 2020 at Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, Georgia.  Johnny was born August 30, 1956 in Chatsworth, Georgia, a son of the late Delmar and Bonnie Ruth Ponders Cloer.  He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Lee and Tillie West Cloer and Lawrence and Roxie Southerland Ponders, a brother-in-law, Roger Baynes and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.A. and Farrell Baynes.

Johnny was a 1974 graduate of Murray County High.  He worked many years in sheet metal fabrication and for the City of Chatsworth in the Water Department.  Johnny loved race cars and especial dirt track racing.  He built and ran his own car for many years and most weekends could be found at North Georgia Speedway.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Becky Baynes Cloer and celebrated their forty-six wedding anniversary, August 30, 2020; daughter and son-in-law, April and Allen Stanfield; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Brittany Cloer; nephew and his soon to be wife that he thought of as a son, Jonathan and Kendra Owenby; grandchildren, Aden Hollar, Krew Cloer, Heather and Tyson Howard and Holly Stanfield and Jorge Romero; sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Scott Croy; brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Betty Cloer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wesley and Renee Baynes; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Reba and Dannie Green all of Chatsworth, GA; aunt, Anna and Richard Harkins of Dalton, GA; uncle, Temple and Sandra Cloer of Dalton, GA; several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Johnny Alvin Cloer will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Minister Kevin Tackett officiating. He will be laid to rest with his family at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia.  Honored to serve as pallbearers with be, Johnny Cloer, Aden Hollar, Jonathan Owenby, Allen Stanfield, Allen Baynes, Stephen Payne and Krew Cloer.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 12:00 p.m. Noon Saturday until the service hour.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
