Mr. John James "Johnny" Pickrell, age 58 of Calhoun, Georgia departed this life Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Advent Health Gordon in Calhoun, Georgia.
Johnny was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, while his father was stationed at Hill Air Force Base. His parents and family were originally from Massachusetts.
Johnny was baptized at St. Francis de sales Catholic Church in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was a welder/millwright with the Millwrights Local #1121 in Boston, MA. He loved driving around in his yellow Corvette and hunting and fishing.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Prickrell, Sr., and stepfather, David Paul "Tex" Anderson.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Marie Benjamin of Calhoun, GA; daughters, Samantha Marie Pickrell of Sandwich, MA, and Hunter Marie Pickrell of Calhoun, GA; mother, Dixie Lee Mears Pickrell Anderson of Manistique, MI; twin brother, Robert Lee "Bobby" Pickrell of Braintree, MA; half- brother, Richard Vernon "Rickt" Klagstad of San Francisco, CA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Will and Cathy Benjamin of Cartersville, GA; aunts and uncles, Roberta and Thomas Boyd of Manistique, MI, Debra and Darell Jeffries of Wausau, WI, Robert Wayne Burns of Sal Saint Marie, Mi; his four beloved pets, Buddy, Tasha, Brucie and Tails; several cousins.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. John James "Johnny" Pickrell, will be held in Quincy, MA, at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St, Quincy, MA, 02170.
Services will be at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders funeral home 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025, and he will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with American Legion post 112 in charge of Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until service hour.
