Mr. John Hoyt Nix, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the local hospital. He was born March 7, 1950 in Varnell, Georgia, a son of the late James Ernest and Dorothy Nix. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Otis Nix and Jimmy Nix.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Hollifield Nix of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tricia Nix of Cohutta, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jerome Rewis of Chatsworth, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Denny and Brenda Nix of Eton, GA, Grover and Carolyn Nix of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Earnestine Hollifield, Gladys Silvers of Dalton, GA, Martha and  Johnny Gravett of Fairmount, GA; special nephew, Jeremy Nix; sisters-in-law, Lois Hall, Margaret Nix of Dalton, GA  grandchildren, Drew Nix, Scott Rafferty, Nicole Rafferty, Tiffany Livengood; great grandson, Maddox; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. John Hoyt Nix will be held Friday December 13, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Valley Baptist Church with Reverend Charlie Hamm and Reverend Steve Spangler officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Drew Nix, Scott Rafferty, Denny Nix, Ronnie Nix, Rodney Hollifield, Jeremy Nix, Matthew Dodd and Jerome Rewis serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. He will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
