IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Earl
Moorshead Sr
June 20, 1939 – September 10, 2021
John E. Moorshead, Sr. was born on June 20, 1939 and went to his eternal rest on September 10, 2021. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann, his daughter, Pamela Moorshead (Jon Deitrich), his sons, John E. Moorshead, Jr. (Katie), Brett Moorshead (Michelle), and Chad Moorshead (Nicole), as well as Jo Ann's sons, Chris Morgan (Beth) and James Morgan (Kristi), whom he loved as his own. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amber Morgan, Evelyn Deitrich, Jessica Moorshead, William Deitrich, Ashlynn Morgan, Caitlin Morgan, Bella Moorshead, Gina Moorshead, Savannah Morgan, Sophia Moorshead, Tristan Moorshead, and Olivia Moorshead.
Upon graduating from Proviso East high school in 1957, John began working nights in the lab at Chi-Vit Corporation to pay his way through college and graduate school. He earned a degree in chemical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and then an MBA. Over his career at Chi-Vit he advanced from lab worker to President and CEO.
Along the way, John was fortunate to meet Jo Ann, who was the love of his life and his guiding star.
John was highly intelligent, unfailingly strong and capable, infuriatingly stubborn and opinionated, and above all, kind-hearted. There was not a device he could not fix or a problem he could not puzzle through. And there was nothing he wouldn't do for someone who needed his help. He will be deeply missed.
