Mr. John Harold "Little John" Maxwell, age 69, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday morning, December, 7, 2013 at the local hospital. John was born May 29, 1944 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late John B. and Mary Ruth Henson Maxwell. He was also preceded in death by his only sister, Vicky Hall and his father-in-law, Edward S. McCurdy. John was a 1964 graduate of North Whitfield High School and was retired from Textile Industrial Welding.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Helen McCurdy Maxwell of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Kim Maxwell; daughter, Tami Finley; grandchildren, Paige Finley and Zack Finley; mother-in-law, Lucy C. McCurdy all of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law, Tommy Hall of Calhoun, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. John Harold Maxwell will be held Monday, December 9, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with thoughts and memories shared by his granddaughter, Paige Finley and Chris Ross. He will be laid to rest at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Quarles, Mitchell McCurdy, Steven Jackson and Darrell "D.J." Summey, Jr.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 2:00 p.m. until the service hour on Monday.
