Mr. Joel Lara Sr., age 66, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, December 11, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Joel was born March 19, 1950 in Mexico, a son of the late Nicanor Lara Garcia and M De Laluz Saldana Ruiz. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Raquel Lara, Rosalba Lara.

He is survived by his wife, Enedina Lara Rivera of the residence; children, Joel Lara Jr. and Maria Estrada, Abraham Lara, Maricela Lara and Rogelio Sanchez, Reyna Lara and Juan Hernandez, Sofia Lara and Felipe Cruz, Patricia Lara all of Dalton, GA; brothers and sisters, Esther Lara, Roberto Lara, Raul Lara, Daniel Lara, Samuel Lara, Abel Lara, Arnoldo Lara, Lidia Lara, Caritina Lara, Jose Lara, Saul Lara; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life Mr. Joel Lara Sr. will be held Thursday December 15, 2016 at 12:00 noon from the Iglesia Pentecostal Fuente De Agua Viva with Valdemar Paniagua officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday. Interment will follow in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday.
