Joel Dewey Powell, 80, of Madisonville, TN passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, at his daughter's home.  He was born on February 16, 1943, in Menisink, NY.  Joel served his country in the Army.  He was the owner/operator of One-Way Tire for over 30 years.

His love was helping people and traveling to several countries on Mission trips. He taught Sunday school for 13 years and enjoyed making and refurbishing furniture.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents, James, and Geneva Powell; brothers, Bill Powell and Charles Powell; sisters, Beatrice Woodby and Geraldine Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lana R. Powell; children, Misty (Dwayne) Roberts, Kim (Tim) Stewart, Mark (Janice) Powell; grandchildren, Justin Roberts, Olivia Roberts, Tyler Stewart, Brady and Macy Powell; siblings, Herbert Powell, Bernice Andrews and Barbara Thomas and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Companion Funeral Service & Crematory, 400 White St., Athens, TN.  A Church Service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the House of Deliverance Church, 157 Middle Rd NE, Ranger, GA with visitation from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.  Burial will be at the House of Deliverance Cemetery following the Service.
