Mr. Jimmy Hugh Norwood, age 71, born November 7, 1949, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021. His best friend, Debbie Blanchard Little by his side. The son of Talmadge and Zora Sparks Norwood both preceding him in death. He married his wife of 40 years, Cheryl Cantrell Norwood, in 1969 and she preceded him in death in 2009. Also preceding him in death is an infant brother, Dennis, his only daughter, April Norwood Lynthlin and granddaughter Cara Marie Lynthlin in 2009.

Jimmy was a graduate of Dalton High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was an airplane mechanic in Vietnam. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved to go fishing and was skilled in woodworking. He also enjoyed creative writing and wrote a couple of books for his grandchildren. He worked at Stafford's Grocery for many years and also at Shaw Industries.

Survivors include a brother, Jerry (Robin) Norwood of Chatsworth, GA; grandson, Rylee Lynthlin of Chatsworth, GA; granddaughter, Shanda Collins; great grandson, Roman Collins of Medford, Oregon; special cousin, Jane (Jim) Halberstadt of Beverly Hills, FL and their daughter, Jessica Smith of Sidney, OH; and uncle, Hubert Wilkey of Citrus Springs, FL; his best friend and caregiver, Debbie Blanchard Little; special cousins from Rainsville, AL, many nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at a later date where his cousin Reverend Bob Sampley will preside.
