Obituary for Mr. Jimmy Lee Cockburn

Mr. Jimmy Lee Cockburn, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia.

Jimmy was born December 7, 1948, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Chester Arthur and Mary Lee Oxford Cockburn.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou and Earmon "Skid" Skidmore, Margaret Williams, and Ruth and Dennis Stinson and Richard Gribble, and his brothers, Harold Cockburn and Jack Cockburn.

He was a 1966, graduate of North Whitfield High School and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Ronald Stewart of Rocky Face, GA; grandchildren, Jacob and Dani Stewart, and Britney Stewart; great-grandchildren, Grayson Lee Stewart and Walker Ray Stewart; sister, Shirley Gribble of Dalton, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jimmy Lee Cockburn will be held Friday, November 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Johnny Wayne West officiating. He will be laid to rest with his family at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 1:00 p.m. Friday until the service hour.
