Mr. Jerry Herschell Eaker, age 69, of Cohutta, GA, departed this life Thursday August 24, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born March 3, 1948 to the son of the late Herschell Eaker and Hazel Louis Davis Eaker. He was also preceded in death by his son, Barry Burton. Jerry worked many years at Beaulieu of America as a local truck driver. He enjoyed wood working, loved his animals and show his chickens.

Mr. Jerry Herschell Eaker is survived by his wife, Linda Gray Burton Eaker; sons, Jerry (Amanda) Eaker, Charles (Jan) Burton, Ricky Burton, Mike (Mardee) Burton; daughter, Sherry (Jack) Cooper; brothers, Jim (Janet) Eaker, Steve (Teresa) Eaker, Danny Eaker and Vickie Stephens; sisters, Linda (Charles) Boles, Judy (Donnie) Hilley and Missy Vinson; also nine grandchildren and four great-granchildren and couple on the way.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jerry Herschell Eaker will be Sunday August 27, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Charles Carnes and Pastor Gladden Coe officiating. Interment will follow at Varnell Cemetery with Bobby Leathers, Danny Eaker, Derrick Hilley and Jared Tate, Steve Eaker Jr, Dwayne Eaker and Jimmy Eaker Jr., serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday August 27, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel.
