Obituary

Mrs. Jeanette Lou Ledford, age 79, of the Dawnville Community, in Whitfield County, Georgia, departed this life Saturday morning, July 27, 2013 at the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born August 14, 1933 in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late, James Ware and Nancy Harper Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Verlin William Ledford, her daughter, Sharon Laverne Ledford, her brother, Jack A. Ware and a brother-in-law, Neal Ledford.

Jeanette was a graduate of Valley Point High School and the Chattanooga Business School. She worked many years as a bookkeeper at Meadowbrook Carpet and at the Wooddale Health Care. She was a member of the South Cohutta Baptist Church where she was the bookkeeper and sang many years in the choir. She loved to crochet, an avid reader, shop, make garden, loved flowers and as her family said "run the roads". But the true love of her life was her Savior, Jesus Christ and her family. She loved them deeply.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Karen Ledford, Alan and Lisa Ledford; grandchildren, Carli Ledford, Cole Ledford, William Taylor Ledford and Cale Ledford; sisters-in-law, Bertha Henson and Ruth Cargal; nieces and nephews, Pat Carlock, Jim and Yvonne Ware, Bob and Nancy Hetrick, Angela Ware, George Ware, Susan Cargal; special friends, Okeema Hammontree, Mary Brackett, Linda Powell, Harold and Bonitta Ledford; and numerous friends and relatives in North Carolina and Ohio.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jeanette Lou Ledford will be held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her pastor, Reverend Adam Warren and Reverend Author Corbin officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at the West Hill Cemetery with Dave Senters, Larry Chasteen, Danny Burgess, Eddie Hammontree, Chris Banks and Adam Banks serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 12:00 noon Monday until the service hour. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the South Cohutta Baptist Church, P.O. Box 458, Cohutta, GA, 30710.
