Mr. Jasper "J.D." Barnes, age 95, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life early Monday morning, April 13, 2020 at Chatsworth Heath Care. J.D. was born June 26, 1924 in Kent, Ohio, the son of the late Howard Decatur Barnes and Irene V. McDonald Barnes Honeychuck. He was raised by his late aunt Baskie Robertson. J.D. was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Annie Etheline Locke Barnes; twin brother at birth and sisters Ruth and spouse Bill Early, Margie Barnes; and step-father, Joseph John Honeychuck. J.D. proudly served in the United States Army. J.D. retired from the National Biscuit after 21 years. He was a faithful member of Holly Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his garden and playing with his trusted therapy dog Joshua. He was also a direct descendent on his father side, 4 ^th generation of Daniel Boone.

J.D. is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann and Glen Brooks of Reliance, TN; grandson, Randal Rybarczyk of Chatsworth, GA.

Service to celebrate the life of J.D. Barnes will be Thursday April 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens Celebration Mausoleum Committal Pavilion with Dr. Danny Cochran officiating, interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday April 15, 2020 at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
