Mr. James Andrew Young, Sr., age 81, of Resaca, Georgia., departed this life Thursday afternoon, November 5, 2015 at Kindred Hospital of Chattanooga, Tennessee. James was born March 7, 1934 in Sylva, North Carolina, a son of the late Paul Andrew Young of St. Petersburg, FL, and Verna Winafred Hixson Young of Chickamauga, GA. He was also preceded in death by two step-sons, Charlie Grooms, Sr. and Kenneth Grooms. He grew up in Chickamauga, Georgia, and was a long time resident of Dalton, Georgia, where he worked at World Carpet/Mohawk Industries for twenty eight years. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church. After retiring he went to work at Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo grocery stores where he loved being able to still connect with his many friends and co-workers. He loved to go to work and was loved by all that got to know him.
James is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Emma Jean Young of Resaca, GA; son, James Andrew "Jim" Young, Jr. of Tunnel Hill, GA; daughter, Margaret Rose Young of Crawfordville, FL; grandchildren, Cheianne Young Canstaneda, Jasynda Kashaye Young, Nicholas Alexander Young; five great grandchildren; step-daughters, Renee and Jimmy Holder of Adairsville, GA, Becky and Jimmy Dean of Resaca, GA and Elaine Bunch of Dalton, GA; sisters, Ruth Ross of Chickamauga, GA, and Elizabeth Thompson of Dunlap, TN; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James Andrew Young, Sr., will be held Thursday morning, November 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015.
