Mr. James "Jim" Trammell Stone, age 85 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Thursday March 10, 2022 at his residence. Jim was born July 10, 1936 in Dalton, Georgia, the son of the late Roy Oscar and Mamie Lou Reese Stone. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Mae Phillips Stone; daughter, Pamela Diane Weathers; brothers, Jack Stone, Hulan Stone; sisters, Evaline Stone Wilson and Frances Kittle.
Jim worked for Shaw Industries plant 23 before his retirement as a compounder. Jim was a devout Christian and loved help in his church, Antioch Baptist Church. He was honored to serve as a deacon for many years, but mostly he enjoyed all of the kids in the Antioch Baptist children's church. He spent most Monday evenings at the auction buying toys and candy for the children at his church. Jim served his country in the United States Air Force and was a life time member of the VFW.
Mr. James "Jim" Trammell Stone is survived by his son, Michael Stone of Tunnel Hill, Georgia; brother, Maxie Stone of Lafayette, Georgia; grandchildren, Shane and Teresa Pike, Andy and Amie Stoker, Monica Stoker, Jeremy Stone, Beth and Justin Bivens, Haleigh Stone, Dakota Stone, Hannah Pike, Morgan Stoker, Mason Stoker, Alec Mitchell, Asher Bivens. He is also survived by many special extended family members, dear friends and his Antioch Baptist Church Family.
Service to celebrate the life of James "Jim" Trammell Stone will be held Monday March 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Donald Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with American Legion Post 112 in charge of the military rites.
The family will receive friends, Sunday March 13, 2022 at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
