James Eugene Mulkey, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, June 22, 2017 at the local hospital. James was born December 7, 1940 in Ellijay, GA, a son of the late James Willard and Elsie Woody Mulkey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Mulkey, sisters, Annie Lee Stone, Geneva Pace. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Mulkey of the residence; sons, James Mulkey, John Mulkey; daughter, Loretta Howell of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Deborah Mulkey of Dalton, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Birdie and Bill Hayes of Dalton, GA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and CM Higgins of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Michael Grey, Malcolm Mulkey, Megan Grey, Denise Patterson; great grandchild, Breella Mulkey; several nieces and nephews. Service to celebrate the life of James Eugene Mulkey will be held Sunday June 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the New Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Marvin Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with John Mulkey, James Mulkey, Michael Grey, Wayne Mulkey, Larry Hayes, and Hunter Mulkey serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
