Mr. James D. Lunsford, age 83 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday September 30, 2022 at his residence. He was born May 30, 1939 in Murray County, GA, a son of the late John and Doshie Whitener Lunsford. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Benny Lunsford, sister, Marie Flood.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Geneva Lunsford of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Hoyt and Brenda Lance of Ringgold, GA, Eddie Lance Sr. and Diane Lance of Kennesaw, GA; daughter and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Danny Marcus of Tunnel Hill, GA, Becky Cash of Chatsworth, GA, Marlene Lance of Dalton, GA, Regina and Brian Quarles of Chatsworth, GA; brothers, Jerry Lunsford of Florida, Findley Lunsford of Chatsworth, GA; sister, Betty Woodall of Cartersville, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James D. Lunsford will be held Wednesday October 5, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Community Baptist Church in Lafayette, GA, with his son Pastor Eddie Lance Sr. and Pastor Roger Greene officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Interment will be in the Community Baptist Church Cemetery.
