Obituary

Mr. James David "David" Johnson Jr., age 59, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on August 16, 1966, in Charlotte, North Carolina, son of the late James David Johnson Sr. and Gloria Jenny Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Lonnie and Sarah Scruggs Johnson, and his special uncle, Guy Johnson.

David was a beloved brother, father, and friend who faced life with courage, strength, and grace. After a long and valiant battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. Known for his warm smile, bright eyes, and kind heart, David had a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. His humor, compassion, and unwavering strength will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his former spouse, Nena Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda (Ross) Tull, Samantha (Joe) Berrier, Meghan Johnson, and Hailey Johnson; sisters and brother-in-law, Mandy Hughett, Sharon (Chris) Green; and his special stepmother, Carlotta Johnson. David is also survived by seven grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 2:00 p.m. till 6:00p.m. Wednesday November 12, 2025.

A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date.
