Mr. James Larry "Hoot" Gibson, age 75, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Monday December 11, 2023, at Emory Hospital. He was born in Dalton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Gibson, mother, Ethel Chance Gibson, and brother Jack Gibson. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sherrie Smith Gibson of the residence; son, Chris Gibson of Duluth, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Laura "Beth" Gibson Harvey and Mark Harvey of Rossville, GA; grandson, Colin James Harvey; brother and sisters-in-law, Billy and Martha Gibson of Dalton, GA, Beverly Gibson Sherman of Lafayette, GA; aunt, Becky Chance of Dalton, GA; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Larry Gibson will be held Saturday December 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Final place of rest to be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, family request donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
