Mr. James F. Hooker, age 83 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday August 23, 2015 at his residence. James was born September 28, 1931 in Murray County Georgia, a son of the late Oscar F. and Fannie Leigh Burns Hooker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Florine Jessie Hooker, brother, Millard Hooker, sister, Midge Marlore. He proudly served his country on the United States Army. He was retired from Shaw Industries as a truck driver. He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, James Hugh Hooker; daughter and son-in-law, Edna Diane and Mark Rice; granddaughters, Bethany Leann Hooker, Ashley Rice; several nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James F. Hooker will be held Saturday August 29, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Travis Martin and Reverend Billy Willis officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Fairy Valley Cemetery in Murray County with American Legion Post 112 in charge of military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
