Mr. James Thomas Hixson, age 48, of East Ridge, Tennessee, departed this life Monday morning, October 24, 2022 at the UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.

James was born January 22, 1974 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended Red Bank High School and was employed at Chattanooga Bakery. He attended Action Church. James was a gentle person who loved to laugh and make others laugh, loved to travel, was a true friend, loved Provino's, but more than anything, he loved his wife.

James was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Thomas Hixson, his grandfather, Virgil "PaPaw" Jordan, his grandmother, Margaret "Granny" Jordan, uncle, Richard Fuller and his father-in-law, Jon Terrell "Terry" McCleskey.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kandace McCleskey Hixson; mother, Teresa Ann Fuller Sisson of Soddy-Daisy, TN; brother, Sidney Thomas and Heather Hixson, Jr.; sisters, Rebecca Irene Hixson and Devin Warnock, Christine and Doug Neal, Nicole Taylor and Belinda and Steve Walker; beloved niece, Emma Warnock; mother-in-law, Donna McCleskey; aunts and uncles, Jolie Brock, Tijuana Jordan, Vicky and Tom Fisher, Lana Flerl, Jan Fuller and Tommy Fuller; step-mother, Judy Hixson; his special companion, his little dog, Petey Bear; several nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and many friends including his work family at Chattanooga Bakery (MoonPie).

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James Thomas Hixson will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Ponders Brainerd Chapel at 12:00 p.m. Noon, with Pastor Daniel Beard officiating. He will be laid to rest at beautiful Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Brainerd Chapel, 4203 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until the service hour.
