Mr. James "Edward" Higgins, age 67, of Dalton, GA., departed this life on October 23, 2015 at the local hospital. James was born November 23, 1947 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Chester and Minnie Irene Smith Higgins. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Higgins and Charles Higgins.

Mr. James "Edward" Higgins is survived by his children, James Edward Higgins Jr. and Barbie Higgins of Athens, TN, Roxanne Higgins of Chatsworth, GA, Christina and Charles Freeman of Calhoun, GA and Anthony Higgins of Dalton, GA, step-children, Michelle Babineaux of Gurdon, AK, Wendy and Michael Sherwood of Dalton, GA, eleven gran children and one great grandson, and special friends Robert Mullins.

The service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Edward Higgins will be held Tuesday October 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. from Ponders Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Green and Rev. Jimmy Black officiating. Mr. James "Edward" Higgins will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery at Hall Memorial Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel on Monday October 26, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 27, 2015 until the service hour.
