Mr. James "Jimmy" William Hartness Sr., age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Sunday evening, February 16, 2025, at Hamilton Medical Center. He was born July 31, 1941 in Cleveland, Tennessee, a son of the late Charles Doc and Anita Carr Hartness. He was also preceded in death by his wife Eva Joyce Haynes Hartness, son James "Jimmy" Hartness Jr., brothers Dennis Hartness, Lloyd Dwayne Carr, sisters Laura Jo Hartness Burgess, Charissa Lynn Ray, Audrey Denise Hartness

He is survived by his special friend, Linda Haynes of Dalton, GA; brothers, Ronnie Hartness, Richard Hartness of Cartersville, GA; sister, Andrea McKinnon of Cartersville, GA; friends, Elise and Steve Smith of Hixson, TN.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James "Jimmy" William Hartness Sr. will be held Saturday February 22, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Matt Baxter officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Tunnel Hill, Georgia.
