Mr. James "Lloyd" Harris an honorable, simple man of God, age 89, of Tunnel Hill, GA, departed this life Wednesday September 11, 2019 at the Quinton Health Care. He was born February 16, 1930 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late Clifford Ellis and Mattie Bell Prescott Harris. He was also preceded in death by his son, Roger Harris, brother, Virgil Harris, sisters and brothers-in-law, Vera and Gene Presswood, Mary and Clayron Burgess, sister-in-law, Juanita Harris. He was a 1947 graduate of Boynton High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. A veteran of the Korean Era serving in Germany in 1951 and 1952.  He was a faithful Deacon and member of Maple Grove Baptist Church for years and a faithful Deacon and member of Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris Brock Harris of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Janice Harris of Chatsworth, GA, Randy and Shannon Harris of Tunnel Hill, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Jerry McMillan of Cartersville, GA, Deborah and David King of Rocky Face, GA; brother, Charles Leo Harris of Dalton, GA; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James Lloyd Harris will be held Friday September 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ronald Guffey and Reverend Mark Atkins officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery with Josh King, Jason King, Chad Harris, Zachary Brooks, Joey Harris, and Dakota King serving as pallbearers. Jesse Harris and Braylee McMillan will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
