Mr. James Gerald Godfrey, age 44, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the local hospital. James was born December 29, 1970 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late David Ted Godfrey, Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Margaret Painter Godfrey of Dalton; sons Devin Lee Chitwood, Austin Roses, Chris Roses all of Dalton, GA, and Logan Godfrey of Lafayette, GA; daughters, Cheyenne Roses, Ashlynn Godfrey both of Dalton, Ga, Autumn Godfrey of Lafayette, GA; brother, David Ted Godfrey, Jr. of Dalton, GA; sister, Marcia Hall of Dalton, GA; several aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James Gerald Godfrey will be held Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Keith Bennett officiating. James will be laid to rest at Colonial Hill Memorial Gardens with, Devin Chitwood, Chris Roses, Andrew West, Wesley Davis, James Fields and Austin Roses serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
