Mr. James Mitchell Ellison, Sr., age 78, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, December 28, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 2, 1945 in Brunswick, Georgia a son of the late Franklin and Frances Kephart Ellison. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ricky Ellison, brothers, Steve Ellison, Richard Ellison; sister Annette Mery. He was a n avid Golfer. In his later years the love of his life was his family and most of all his two great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Langham Ellison of the residence; sons James Ellison Jr. of Dalton, GA ; grandson, Joseph Ellison and Katie Bell of Dalton, GA; great grandchildren, Brynlee and Baylor Ellison; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe Langham Jr. and Kathy Langham of Dalton, GA, Tommy Langham of Chatsworth, GA, Judy Ellison of Dalton, GA, Jill Ellison of Suffolk, England; nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of James Mitchell Ellison will be held Monday January 1, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Dr. Danny Cochran and Reverend Brian Branam officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Joseph Ellison, Dakota Johnson, Paul Ledford, Brett Langham, Kross Langham and Eric Ellison serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
