Mr. James Hubert Coots, age 68, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Hamilton Medical Center. James was born August 6, 1944 in Hyden, KY, a son of the late Monroe and Mallie Wells Coots. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer and Lloyd Coots, sisters, Lula Caudill, Martha Combs, Ollie Meeks, Janie Cody, Mary Stacy. He was a member of the Smyrna Gospel Tabernacle. James loved to work in his garden and share his vegetables with people in the community.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Mae Stacy Coots of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, James P. and Lianne Coots of Dalton, GA; daughter, Millie Coots of Chatsworth, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Glenna Coots of Hickory, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Lester Cody of Viper, KY; grandchildren, James A. Coots, Chris D. Coots; great grandchildren, Levi Coots, Hunter Coots; nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James Hubert Coots will be held Friday June 14, 2013 at 12:00 noon from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Vernon Willard and Reverend Greg Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Place Memorial Gardens with James A. Coots, Chris Coots, Steve Peek and Jonathan Peek serving as palbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday.
