Mr. James "Jim" William Burk, age 77, of Ringgold, Georgia, departed life Saturday, March 23, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 1, 1947 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Lloyd Burk and Novella Wynn Norris. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Billy Taylor and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reverend Ellis and Jeanette Chasteen. He proudly served 22 years in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Brenda Sue Chasteen Burk of the residence; son and daughter-in-law, James and Angela Burk of Athens, TN; daughter, Sandy Burk of Ringgold, GA; brother, Mike Halfpenny and Pam Gordon of Mulberry, FL; grandchildren, Lillie Putnam, of Dalton, GA, Shane and Stasha Putnam of Athens, TN, Dylan Burk of Atlanta, GA, Marleigh Rogers of Cleveland, TN, Fiona Green, Dakota Green of Athens, TN, Emma and Deven Harper of Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Reverend Eddie and Andrea Chasteen of Oak Ridge, TN, Reverend Wayne and Cindy Chasteen of Chickamauga, TN, Lisa and Jesse Ledford of Lafayette, GA;  several special nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James "Jim" William Burk will be held Thursday March 28, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Wayne Chasteen and Reverend Eddie Chasteen officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Christopher Davis, Joshua Davis, Blake Chasteen, Brandon Goble, Josh Bearden, and Jesse Ledford proudly serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
