Mr. James Wofford "Jim" Allred, age 84, of Dalton, GA, passed away peacefully at his home, early Saturday morning, December 5th, 2020, surrounded by his family. Jim was born February 12th, 1936, in Cartersville, GA, son of the late T.H., and Colleen Wilson Allred. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dalton. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cindy Powell Allred, daughter, Tish Autumn Allred, of Dalton, GA, and sons and daughters-in-law, Tim, (Anita) Allred, of Cohutta, GA, and Joe (Donna) Allred, of Birmingham, AL. Also, brothers and sister-in-law, Ted Allred, of Newnan, GA, and Victor (Angie) Allred, of Dalton, GA, and sister Cynthia Allred (Jim Price), of Fairburn, GA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dunkin, (Martha) Allred, and Austin Allred of Marion Junction, AL, Jay Parker of Dalton, GA, Ali Parker of Adairsville, GA, Alexa Lee of Birmingham, AL, Denise (Jerrid) Thompson of Cohutta, GA, Matthew Allred of Atlanta, GA, and great-grandchildren, Ellis Anne, and Mary Dunkin Allred, of Marion Junction, AL, and Tristan, and Catherine Thompson; of Cohutta, GA. Uncles and Aunts Senate and Dottie Wilson, Reverend William Randolph "Billy" and Claudine Wilson, Frances and Jimmy Bingham, Betty and Ronnie Richards and Carol and Clarence Jr. Brown all from Cartersville, GA.

After growing up in Cartersville, Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force, in 1953, where he served for four years. After his tour of duty in the Air Force, Jim began his career in the carpet industry. After spending many years in the carpet industry, Jim started his own company, James Allred Rugs, Inc, in Chattanooga, TN, manufacturing custom, hand-made wool rugs and carpet, for the interior-design trade. He was president, and co-owner, with his wife, until his retirement in 2002. Visitation will be held at Ponders Funeral Home, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton, GA 30721, Monday, December 14th, 2020, from 5pm – 7pm. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 15th, 2020, at 1:30p.m.in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, at 1200 Bailey Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37404, with his grandsons officiating. Military graveside honors will be rendered by American Legion Post 112. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Salvation Army, or the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Memphis, TN.
