Mr. James Winston Allen, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his residence. He was born January 27, 1938 in Copper Hill, TN a son of the late Clay and Marie Tankersley Allen. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jay Allen, William Allen, Joe Allen, Jackie Allen, Gene Allen, Gary Allen; sisters, Annie Williams, Ruby Woods, Marie Ann West, twin brother and sister, Elsie Allen and Ellis Allen; brother-in-law, Jimmy Cope.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Cope Allen of the residence; sons and daughter-in-law, Ted Allen of Tennga, GA, Tim and Nancy Allen of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Chad Allen of Tennga, GA, Cody Allen of Chattanooga, TN, Haley Allen of Dalton, GA, great grandchildren, Adrian, Sylas, Max; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clay Jr. and Barbara Allen, John and Martha Allen, Wendell and Pat Allen, Tommy Allen, Jimmy and Doris Allen, Stoney Allen, Charles and Mary Ann Allen; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Rich, Linda and Larry Pelfrey all of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Cline and Russel Chapman, Sharon and Gary Fowler of Dalton, GA, Amelia Cope of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. James Winston Allen will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel. Interment will follow in the Dawn Rest Cemetery with Cody Allen, Matthew Chadwick, Josh Cartwright, Zane Luna, Eddie Green and Chase Cline serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Due to the national health crisis and the COVID-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
