Jake Brian Thomas, age 21, of Cohutta, Georgia, a student at the University of Georgia in Athens, departed this life Friday, June 12, 2020 in Athens, Georgia.

Jake was born in Dalton, Georgia on December 6, 1998.  He was a son of Anthony Brian Thomas and Suzannah Fox Thomas.    He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sylvan and Faye Fox.

He was a 2017 graduate of Dalton High School and he was a current student at the Terry Business School at The University of Georgia where he was majoring in Risk Management.

Jake is survived by his father and step-mother, Anthony and Theresa Thomas of Rocky Face; mother, Suzy Thomas; his twin brother, Tanner Anthony Thomas of Cohutta, GA; his sister, Hannah Elizabeth Thomas of Cohutta, GA; girlfriend, Waverly Wahbeh of Kennesaw, GA; grandparents, Helen and Kenneth Crowder of Dalton; great-grandfather, Retired Master Sergeant Jack Seritt of Rocky Face; uncle, Scott Seritt of Woodstock; his black and white tuxedo cat, Tommy; and a very special group of friends, The Goonz.

Services to celebrate the life of Jake Thomas will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM in Ponders Melrose Chapel.  Family and friends will deliver the eulogy.  Jake will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens beside his grandparents.  Anthony Bundros, Patrick Hurney, Marshall Phillips, Seung Lee, Nathan Smith, Brock Nelson, Max Mainor, Matthew Tankersley, Jake Dean, and Juan Escudero will all be honored to serve as pallbearers.

Jake's family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at Ponders Melrose Chapel.
