Mr. Jackson L. "J D" Davis, age 64, of Resaca, GA, departed this life, Monday, November 28, 2016 at his home with his loving family at his bedside. J D was born January 28, 1952 in Calhoun, Georgia, a son of the late, Jack Davis and Ester Lurlene Perkins Davis. Jackson was known to his friends and family as "J D' or "Mann" He was also preceded by brother, Charles Ray Potts; sister, Carolyn Ann Dockery and brother-in-law, Ricky Poarch.

J.D. was a 1973 graduate of Red Bud High School and was a mechanic by trade and supervisor plant manager at Calhoun Plastics for over twenty years. J D was an original country boy who never met a stranger and was always happy and enjoyed life. He loved hunting and fishing and restoring old tractors. He was a founding member of the Gordon County Antique Engine and Tractor Club.

He is survived by the love of his life, Glenda Harkins Davis and would have celebrated their forty-second wedding, February 28, 2017; son and daughter in law, Joseph Dewayne "Joe" and Tabitha "Tabbie" Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Doug Ralston; grandchildren, Jazmine and Gabrielle Ralston; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Arlene Davis; sister, Patricia Poarch; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jackson L. "J D" Davis will be held Thursday, December 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Wesley Hunt and Reverend Andrew Bowen officiating. He will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Cemetery with Clyde Burchett, Kim King, Marty Potts, Doug Smith, Roy Smith and Ed Harkins serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Burton, Gordon Stafford, Jerry Thompson, James Bryan and his co-workers at Calhoun Plastics.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening and after 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the service hour.
