Mr. Jackie Dewayne Newby, age 75, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the local hospital. Jackie was born February 18, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN, a son of the late Jack Riley and Hazel Lorraine. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby, Andre and Richard Newby, sisters, Marcia Gail Steel and Dorothy Keef.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Newby of the residence; daughter, Julie Newby Ausmus of Chickamauga, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jackie and Melinda Newby of Chickamauga, GA, Tommy and Tanya Newby, and stepsons, Steven Lloyd, Craig Lloyd of Rocky Face, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Eldun and Marsha Newby of Rocky Face, GA; sisters-in-law, Tammy Newby of Nashville, TN, Tina Sampson of Ringgold, Cindy Newby of Chatsworth, GA; brother-in-law, Roy Keef of Ringgold, GA; ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jackie Dewayne Newby will be held Friday March 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mill Creek Baptist Church, 1767 Mill Creek Rd Rocky Face GA 30740, with Brother Keely Hasty and Dr. Garry Hill officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service hour. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church with Tommy Newby, Jackie Newby, Eldun Newby, Christian Newby, Chase Newby and Preston Ausmus serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
