Mr. Jack Gibson, age 79, of Dalton, GA, departed this life Monday August 28, 2017 at the local hospital. Jack was born October 11, 1937 in Jasper, GA, son of the Andrew Newton Gibson Sr. and Edda Mae Evans Gibson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew Gibson Jr., Frank Gibson, sisters, Ruth Mullins, Kate Johnson, Ann Gibson. He proudly served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Willie Jean Gibson of the residence; sons and daughters-in-law, James Timothy and Tammy Gibson of Monroe, GA, Greg and Laura Gibson of Travelers Rest, SC, Andy Gibson of Dalton, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Faye Walker of Florida, Jelane Kelley of Dawsonville, GA, Melba and Vernon Sullivan of Jasper, GA; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jack Gibson will be held Thursday August 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with military honors by the American Legion Post 112. His sons and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends, Wednesday August 30, 2017 from Ponders Melrose Chapel 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
