Mr. J. Lamar Owens, age 80, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this lifeWednesday, May 18, 2016 peacefully in his sleep at his residence. He was
born August 27, 1935 in Fyffe, Alabama, a son of the late J.P. and Floye Butts Owens and a sister, Shelby Mitchell. He was retired from West Point
Pepperal Mills and was a member of Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Peggy Joyce Holt Owens of
the home; son, Ricky Lamar Owens of Dalton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Malcom Pickelsimer of Cartersville, GA; grandsons, Wesley,
Tyler and Andrew Pickelsimer all of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Shirley Galloway of Rocky Face, GA, and Frances Wilson of Rainsville, AL; several nieces
and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. J. Lamar Owens will be held Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend
Ronald Guffey officiating. He will be laid to rest at United Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from
