Mrs. Imogene Epperson, age 88, of Resaca, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning April 18, 2019 at the Gordon Health Care surrounded by her loving family. Imogene was born February 13, 1931 in DeKalb, Texas, a daughter of the late, Seldon Crew and Mary Ruth Calvin Welch. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, T. A. Welch and Vanoy Welch and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benjamin Franklin and Mary Ethel Wilson Epperson.
Imogene was a 1949 graduate of DeKalb High School and worked many years at S & H Crest Variety Store and at the Post Office. She was a lifelong member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. Imogene was a true pastor's wife and her life was lived for others.
She is survived by the love of her life, Reverend Herman Epperson of the residence, and recently celebrated their sixty-ninth wedding anniversary, January 3, 2019; daughters and son-in-law, Darla Kay and John Weisser of Vicksburg, AZ, Rhonda Lavelle Epperson of Wenden, AZ; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Keith Epperson and Donna McClure of Phoenix, AZ, Doy Layne and Rhonda Epperson of Calhoun, GA; grandchildren, Greg Epperson, Britne' and Tracy Angel, Brea and Edward Padgett, Karl and Sommer Weisser, Kari and Orlando Avila, Casey Olive, Cody and Cynthia Olive, Zach and Katelyn Olive, USN Colton and Lacey Olive; twenty three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois Taylor of Rocky Face, GA, and Frances and Jerry Smith of Resaca, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Imogene Epperson will be held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly with Reverend Charlie Pratt and Reverend Lonnie Starnes officiating. She will be laid to rest at the West Hill Cemetery with her grandsons and nephew, Greg Epperson, Karl Weisser, Jerry Layne Smith, Reggie Gazaway, Jerry Eubanks, and Allen Massingale serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until the service hour.
