Mr. Hoyt Keener, age 93, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021 at his home.  Hoyt was born April 10, 1928 in Gilmer County, Georgia, (Round Top) a son of the late Charlie Clifford and Rosie White Keener.  He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Lou Johnson Keener whom he married October 26, 1957 and died, November 22, 2018, his only child, Michael Hoyt Keener who died May 6, 2008, his brothers, Tom Keener, Alf Keener and Harley Keener, his sisters, Bessie Mae Teal, Clara Bell Smith, Beatrice Davis, Connie Clark, Lillian Barton, Dorothy Burgess, Alvie Mullinax and Janett Keener.

Hoyt was a fifty year plus member of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge #349 in Fairmount, Georgia. He attended Grace Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Deborah Keener Hartman of Jasper, GA; nieces and nephews, Cindy and Gary "Mongo" Ingle of Calhoun, GA, John Gibson, Jimmy David both of Fairmount, GA, Michelle and Robert Vines of Conyers, GA, Ruth Holcomb of Acworth, GA, Genelle Payne of Buford, GA; sister-in-law, Sue Gibson of Fairmount, GA; several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Hoyt Keener will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Reverend Kendal Brantley and Reverend Robert Vines officiating.  He will be laid to rest with his family at Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Baptist Church Cemetery with Josh Ingle, Robert Vines, Jonathan Gibson, Nicholas Davis, Dylan Gaddy and Vence Davis honored to serve as pallbearers. Masonic graveside rites will be provided by Morning Star Lodge #349.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel (2566 Hwy. 411, Fairmount, GA, 30139) after 12:00 p.m. Noon Saturday until the service hour.
