Mr. Howard Billy Young age 82, of Fairmount, Georgia (RYO community) passed away Saturday December 7, 2019 after a long battle of Heart Disease at Otterbein Senior Community of Lebanon Ohio. He was born March 22, 1937 in Fairmount, Georgia. He loved serving the people of Fairmount and Gordon County. He had served as Fairmount Chief of Police, Chief Deputy of Gordon County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Morning Star Lodge #349. Preceding him in death was his father Leonard G. Young and mother Lela S. Young; his sister Inez (Young) Gibson; and his brother L.G. Young, Jr. He is survived by his son Troy Young (wife) Kimberly; 3 grandchildren Liza Young, Nichole Alexander, and Travis Young; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Ponders Funeral Home, 2566 US-411 Hwy, Fairmount, Ga from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Johnson Cemetery.
