Howard Jacob Gropper,age 96 ,passed away March 2, 2019. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Yetta ,  and his parents Karl and Ann Safran Gropper.

Survivors include his children and their spouses:

Cheryl (Alan) Schriber of Cincinnati Ohio; Gary (Vickie) Gropper of Atlanta Georgia. Grandchildren are Josh (Emily) Gropper of Nashville Tennessee; Zack Gropper of  Las Vegas Nevada; Brittany (Patrick) Roderique of Atlanta Georgia; Lexie ( Luis)Nunez of Ecuador; Abbe Schriber of New York City and Ari Schriber of Cambridge Massachusetts. Sister Norma Bauman of Tucson, Arizona.

Howard was born and raised in the Bronx, New York City . He served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He met his wife in Galveston Texas and married September 12, 1948. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. He was owner and operator of Diamonds Unlimited Inc.

He and Yetta supported the Atlanta braves feverishly. Howard was deeply committed to CHI Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where he volunteered for 16 years and served as the organization's president. He was passionately involved with his spiritual community at B'nai Zion synagogue where he served on various committees as well as president.

He was tenacious in all his endeavors and enriched the lives of all he touched. May his life be a blessing.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga Tennessee and B'nai Zion synagogue Chattanooga Tennessee.

A celebration of his life will begin 1 PM Monday, March 4, 2019 at B'nai Zion synagogue chapel with internment to follow at graveside. Rabbi Susan Tendler will officiate.
