Obituary

Mr. Hobart David Lumpkin, age 76 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, at his home. Hobart was born August 3, 1938 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Tommy Lee and Mary Keith Lumpkin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Mae McCormick Lumpkin, son, Roger Lumpkin, brothers, Elmer, Allen, Jimmy and Lewis Lumpkin, and sisters, Syble Hall and Helen McCarley. He was the owner of Lumpkin's Garage and was a member of Tilton Baptist Church. Hobart loved racing and was very active at North Georgia Speedway where he always drove the wrecker. He also loved wood working and being outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Randy Lumpkin of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mike Young of Calhoun, GA, Barbara Lumpkin and Jerry Rhodes of Dalton, GA; step-children, Ray and Joyce Hobbs of Dalton, GA, Billy and Evaline Hobbs of Sugar Valley, GA, Lewis and Doris Hobbs of Cartersville, GA, Glenda and Jim Lowery of Summerset, KY; sisters, Betty Emerson and Amanda and Joe Albertson all of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, David Brown, Larry McAtee, Angela Campbell and Sly Lumpkin; great-grandchildren, Skylin, Heaven, Matthew and Jonah; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Hobart David Lumpkin will be held Saturday morning, July 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend George Ross and Reverend Gary Jarrett officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Tilton Baptist Church Cemetery with David Brown, Larry McAtee, Chris Campbell, Sly Lumpkin, Matthew Campbell and Tony Ponder serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning until the service hour.
