Mr. Herman Howard Smith, age 81, of the Carbondale community, Dalton, GA, departed this life Friday, September 1, 2017 at his home. Herman was born September 13, 1935 in Dalton, GA a son of the late Cleve Monroe and Sara Jane Wilson Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Clara Nell Smith, daughter, Loretta Lynn Smith, brother, Russel Smith, sisters, Louise Hales, Esther Smith, grandchild, Chance Moore.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Howard Lee and Sandra Smith of Rock Springs, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Eugene Thomason, Lisa and John Arb of Chatsworth, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, JM and Gail Smith, Odes and Ann Smith, Richard and Carolyn Smith all of Dalton, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Jerry Satterfield of Cohutta, GA, Linda and Steve Neal of McDonough, GA; grandchildren, Allan Thomason, Kevin and Kristen Thomason, James Arb, Paige Coffey; great grandchildren, Hunter, Easton, Eli, Brayden, Kalynn; several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life service for Mr. Herman Howard Smith will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Temple Baptist Church with his grandson Allan Thomason speaking and Bret Yeager officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Temple Baptist Church at 2310 S Dixie Hwy, Dalton, GA 30720.
