Mr. Henry Grady Rittenhouse, age 87, of Dalton, Georgia, peacefully departed this life
on Tuesday morning, October 22, 2024, at Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by his
loving family. Born on April 12, 1937, in Ellijay, Georgia, Grady was the cherished son
of the late Edward and Mary Austin Rittenhouse. He was preceded in death by his first
wife, Glennie Ruth Rittenhouse; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rittenhouse; brothers, Howard
and Frank Rittenhouse; and sister, Laura Bell Tatum.
Grady proudly served his country in the United States Army and carried with him a deep
love for gospel music. He found joy in singing and playing musical instruments, sharing
his love of music with all who knew him.
Grady is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Green Rittenhouse of Dalton, GA; son,
William Rittenhouse of Dalton, GA; daughter, Sharon Rittenhouse of Chatsworth, GA;
stepchildren, Diane and Tim Lawson of Cohutta, GA, Kathy and Steve Reed of Dalton,
GA, Melissa and Anthony Headrick of Crandall, GA, and Donna Gillespie of Cohutta,
GA. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Rittenhouse of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA; sister-in-
law, Jerri Rittenhouse of Varnell, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
nieces, and nephews, all of whom he adored.
The family will hold a service to celebrate the life of Mr. Henry Grady Rittenhouse on
Friday, October 25, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Pastor Gordon
Delashmitt officiating. He will be laid to rest at The Church at Mineral Spring Cemetery,
where T.J. Lawson, Justin Lawson, Trey Lawson, Logan Lawson, Shawn Reed, Randy
Rodriguez, Anthony Headrick, and Steve Reed will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, October 24, from 5:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m.
