Mrs. Helen Jernigan Phillips Turner, age 97, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday evening, May 22, 2021, at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton, Georgia.

She was born March 10, 1924 in Dalton, GA a daughter of the late Letcher Calhoun and Maude Elizabeth Ellis Jernigan. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Phillips and Jack Turner, sister, Elsie Marie Simmons, son, Jimmy Phillips, grandson, Tracy Renfroe, sons-in-law, Donnie Renfroe, Earl Petty. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served as a missionary in Europe for 18 months, worked with Georgia Heart Association for many years, a member of and participated in several social and civic organizations.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Renfroe Freund (Jim), Mitzi Turner Petty of Dalton, GA, Jamie Turner Holt of Resaca, GA, Mitchell Turner of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Donna Findley (Tom) of Columbus, GA, Karen Green(Hank) of Dalton, GA, Pam Ledford (Andy), Kay Hughes (Terry) of Chatsworth, GA, Kim Smith (Jeff) of Alabama, Dustin Phillips of Atlanta, GA, Megan Welch, Jake Petty (Katelynn) of Dalton, GA; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Helen Jernigan Phillips Turner will be held Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Ron Shinnick and Robert Blackburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Dawnville Cemetery with Dustin Phillips, Jake Petty, Clark Findley, Tyler Findley, Austin Blount, Cory Hughes, Seth Lloyd and Cody Renfroe will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
